Annotations are a new feature that allows handwritten annotations or drawings to be added to the chart, using either a mouse or a tablet.
The below demonstrational video shows how to use annotation in Charting+
The Annotation Menu Overview
How can I draw Annotations?
To enable and disable annotation mode, select the annotation option from the menu.
When enabled the pen icon will be green.
NB: It is not possible to do any normal charting at this stage.
To draw an annotation, simply click and drag the mouse or press on the touchscreen with a finger or stylus.
Colour and thickness can be selected from the drawing menu at the bottom. There is a list of fixed colours to help signify the tooth status. (See screenshot below with red highlight)
To erase, simply select the erase button and drag on the screen where you wish to erase. Or, if you wish to erase the entire screen, click on the clear button. The screenshot below shows these two icons, located side-by-side.
How can I save and load annotations?
Annotations can be saved or a new one loaded at anytime.
NB: If annotations are not saved, any changes will be lost upon page change or reloading.
To save an annotation:
- Click the "Save" button
- Enter a name for the new annotation
- Click the "Save New" button
If an annotation is already loaded there will also be an "Overwrite" option, whether to keep the new annotation name or change it. See screenshot below for demonstration.
Previous annotations can be loaded by:
- Clicking the folder icon located next to the save icon.
- Selecting the desired annotation from the list
NB: It might take a few seconds before the annotation loads
When an annotation is loaded its name will be shown in the menu bar.
When clicking the clear button, any current loaded annotation will be removed.
NB: Previously loaded annotations will not be erased when loading, so be sure to clear first, if the current loaded annotation is no longer wanted.
How can I export the chart with annotations?
A copy of the chart and any loaded annotations can be exported to a file or to the patient's notes. There are two ways to carry out the export function:
1. Click the download (arrow) icon, which will download an image to the current computer.
2. Click the 'save to note' button, located next to the download icon.
This will save a copy of the current chart and annotations to the patient's notes. A new note with a basic comment will be added with the image attached, and it is possible to edit this note for several days afterwards if more detail is needed. The image below shows these two formats:
