Aerona Connect is a new online referral integration. Currently, practices can send an online referral to Orthobridge practice management software. This integration is designed to streamline the referral process between practices.
You can send a referral using Orthobridge by simply following this guide.
Select the relevant patient, then navigate to the Treatment Section > Select the icon (highlighted below).
The referral form (below) will automatically populate with the patient's details from their profile. You will then have the option to:
- Review and update contact details
- Select the practice you wish to refer the patient to from the dropdown menu
- Upload additional notes, files, or attachments as needed
*NB: Both a mobile number and email address are required fields for the referral to be submitted. Please ensure these are accurate and up to date.
Once all relevant detailed have been entered, click Send in the bottom right-hand corner to submit the referral.
If the patient's contact details are missing or invalid, the below error message will appear:
You can enter a valid mobile number directly into the form. However, to add the patient's email address, you'll need to do so from the Patient Details section, see below:
Once successfully submitted, a confirmation message will appear, letting you know that the referral has been sent. See below:
A record of the referral will also be saved automatically in the patient's Clinical Notes. See below:
The referral can also be tracked through the Referral History Audit and the Online Referral Report. Both sections display the current status of each referral—Sent, Accepted, or Rejected.

Referral Updates:
If a referral form has been rejected, this will be clearly visible within both the Referral History Audit and the Online Referral Report. In addition, the referring clinician will receive a User Task Notification, outlining the reason for the rejection and the required next steps.
User tasks can be accessed by selecting the ‘Task’ icon located above your username to the top right of Aerona. This icon will flash with the number of tasks outstanding:
Select the icon to view outstanding tasks. Any updates from Orthobridge will appear as a task titled 'Orthobridge Referral Update'. The task note will provide an explanation of the update or rejection reason, and will specify which patient the task relates to.
In the example below, the task is linked to patient Catherine Testing.
In some cases, Orthobridge may also reach out to the referring clinician directly if further action is required.
For example, if the patient has completed their treatment and is now ready to be recalled, the clinician will be notified accordingly. See below notification:
Once the task has been addressed, simply click the icon to mark it as completed.
