How can I add a supernumerary tooth?
If a patient has an extra tooth it can be added into Charting+ by:
- Change to "Baseline" mode
- Select the tooth next to the supernumerary tooth
- Click the "Tooth Status" group
- Select either "Supernumerary Mesial" or "Supernumerary Distal" from the treatment list
This will make a copy of the selected tooth and place it to the selected side.
A supernumerary tooth will have a blue tooth code and an additional S on the end for example UR1S (see screenshot below).
NB: A tooth cannot be marked as both Supernumerary Mesial and Supernumerary Distal - adding one will remove the other.
How can I remove a supernumerary tooth?
If a supernumerary tooth has been extracted or marked as missing, there will be an empty space within the tooth area. To remove a supernumerary tooth:
- Change to "Baseline" mode
- Select the tooth next to the supernumerary tooth
- Click the "Tooth Status" group
- Select "Permanent Tooth" from the treatment list
This will remove the supernumerary tooth from view but the history can still be viewed by clicking the "S" next to the tooth code.
