Charting with deciduous teeth has slightly changed in Charting+.
Originally, there were separate charts for deciduous and permanent teeth, however with Charting+, deciduous and adult teeth are displayed together.
Below is a demonstrational video showing the use of the deciduous functionality in Charting +

How to change a tooth to deciduous
In Charting+ the default view is permanent teeth. In order to chart on a deciduous tooth, firstly, the tooth needs to be changed to deciduous. This is done by:
- Ensure you are in "Baseline mode"
- Select the tooth/teeth required
- Click the "Tooth Status" group
- Select the "Deciduous" baseline
The chart will now update, and the permanent tooth will be replaced with a deciduous tooth.
Deciduous teeth can be indicated by the following:
- consist of tooth codes
- green-coloured font
- denoted by a letter instead of a number e.g. LR1 becomes LRA (see example below)
How to change all teeth to deciduous
When performing the initial baseline of a new child patient, it is possible to quickly convert all the teeth to deciduous.
This is done by simply selecting the "All Deciduous" option from the full mouth options menu.
Upon selecting this option, the chart will reload and when it loads again, tooth numbers 8-6 will be marked as Un-erupted and 1-5 will be deciduous. See screenshot below.
How to add permanent teeth
Permanent teeth can be added back into the chart by:
- Change to "Baseline mode"
- Select the tooth/teeth required
- Click the "Tooth Status" group
- Select the "Permanent" baseline
Doing this will not remove the deciduous teeth/tooth, both the deciduous teeth/tooth and the permanent teeth/tooth will remain chartable.
How to remove deciduous teeth
Deciduous teeth can be removed by marking them as missing. This can be done by the following:
- Change to "Baseline mode"
- Select the tooth/teeth required
- Click the "Tooth Status" group
- Select the "Missing" baseline
If the deciduous tooth has not been marked as permanent, it will remain on the chart but as missing.
However, if the deciduous tooth is marked as both missing and permanent, then only the permanent tooth will be shown.
The history of the permanent tooth can then be seen by clicking the D icon next to the code of the permanent tooth. See screenshot below as an example.
