The patient 'opt-out' option for receiving marketing communications
This article has been created to demonstrate how users can remove patients from marketing communications sent by Aerona. It also outlines how communication templates can be updated to retrieve marketing.

Opting patients out of marketing communications
Users have the ability to opt patients out of any marketing communications at either:
- the initial stages of adding a patient to Aerona
- or updating a patient's details on the Aerona system.
The steps below show this process.
1. Select the patient you want to opt out of the marketing communications
2. Navigate to the Edit Patient Details icon to the right of the patient's name
3. Select the Contact tab
4. The left-hand column will contain a field asking the user to click on whether they wish for marketing to be received. Select this box.
5. Once the change has been applied, the user must click on the Save icon
Update SMS and email templates using the 'Marketing' checkbox
When creating or updating a marketing template on Aerona, users will need to select the Marketing check box so that the system knows that the patient has opted out. See the steps below for updating communication templates as Marketing:
SMS Templates
- Navigate to the Communication tab on the main menu
- Select the SMS Templates tab
- Select the template you wish to update (e.g. Recall 1) and navigate to the edit icon
- Within the template editor, select the Marketing checkbox to set it as a marketing template and click Save to apply the change
Email Templates
- Navigate to the Communication section and select the Email/Document Templates tab
2. Select the template you wish to update (e.g. Promotional Whitening) and click on the edit icon
3. Within the template editor, select the Marketing checkbox and click Save
